It's been confirmed.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that a sister company (Summer Incorporated) will be making StarCraft 2 sometime in 2010. However, because their team is completely inexperienced, Blizzard has also stated that fans of the StarCraft series can expect the project to be delayed by another two decades. They've made mention, however, that StarCraft: Ghost will be released sometime in 1993.
Official press release:
"We here at Blizzard Entertainment are here to tell our many fans that we will take all the necessary steps into creating a quality gaming experience that will ultimately lead to its complete undoing. We will create a website that features what buttons will be used to do what on which console and several amazing screenshots but then set the date back on our current project so far into the future, that we're certain you'll be eaten by a Zergling before any StarCraft game sees the light of day.
Thank you for your time and hopes. We continue to feast on them."
